Session 6 - Animals

Explore the objectives of this session and the ordered sequence of games connected to it.

Grammar objectives

Use "It's a…" and "I'm a…", and ask "Can it…?" about what each animal does. Move from single words to short full sentences by the end of the session.

Action objectives

Move and sound like the animal that is called, and name the animal the others are imitating. Played out in Walk like an animal and Animal Parkour.

Lexical objectives

Common animal names in English — dog, cat, bird, horse, cow, fish, rabbit — with the sounds and movements that go with them.

Introduction

First time: Since this is the first lesson, we take some time to introduce the teachers: their names, countries of origin, and the languages they speak. We say: My name is.../I am from.../I can speak... If the children are already sitting calmly, we begin immediately with our introductions. If not, we form a large circle by holding hands and go into a smaller circle all together (we repeat this a few times). Then we sit down in the circle and introduce ourselves. The children also introduce themselves by repeating “My name is…” while we clap and tap our thighs in rhythm, going around the circle.

Walk Like an Animal

Move like animals on command! In the predator phase, saying an animal name out loud protects you from being tagged. Final round: guess the animal from its sound!

Animal Parkour

Créez un parcours de motricité (type "parkour") comportant différentes stations : slalom, sauts d'obstacles, tunnel, etc. 🏃‍♂️🚧 Placez différentes flashcards (images) à la fin du parcours. L'enseignant annonce : "Touch the flashcard [Nom de l'objet]..." 🗣️🖼️. Les enfants doivent franchir le parcours et toucher la bonne image. Ce jeu fonctionne très bien sous forme de course de relais ou de compétition entre équipes. 🏁🏆

Revision

Réunissez les enfants 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 et évaluez leur compréhension 🤔✅ du sujet abordé pendant la leçon, ainsi que leur capacité à l'utiliser 👍🗣️. Traduisez ensemble les mots anglais en français 🇫🇷. Donnez à chaque enfant, éventuellement en cercle ⭕, l'occasion de dire ce qu'il a appris 🗣️✅, en permettant à ceux qui sont moins sûrs 🤔 de répéter les mots déjà prononcés 🔁🗣️.
